On the Mac, I don’t use Opera’s browser. I use Safari myself. But you have to admire Opera’s “Chutzpah”. Not only have they made and submitted a browser to the iPhone app store that has no chance in hell of getting approved. They are drawing a line in the sand and daring Apple to cross it. This has never worked for anyone going up against Apple in the past. “At least not publicly.” But maybe Opera believes that this could be the time it does.

Opera your so full of wonderment.

Perhaps you think that with the FTC looking into the Google Voice App rejection or infinite evaluation process. You think that it may now be your chance.

It isn’t.

Not because you don’t make a good browser. It’s because your not Google.

Check out the story at macappers and the Opera Mini’s Demo Video below.

Flash running on the Nexus One is no real surprise. Google has been working with Adobe for years to make Flash more indexable in it’s search engine. Everything performed well in the video, but it’s a video it’s suppose to perform well.

Will Apple start to allow Flash on the iPhone? Maybe?

Google is a huge advocate of web standards. Their search business model depends on an open and indexable internet. Perhaps they feel that the Adobe Flash 10.1 Player finally meets the minimum standards for a good net citizen? Or perhaps they have much less controller over the Nexus One, than Apple has over the iPhone and this is a concession to HTC? Both questions are speculation at this point. What isn’t speculation is that Apple has a worthy competitor to it’s iPhone and it runs Flash.

The boys at gizmodo have put together a summation of 3G iPhone reviews from Walt Mossberg of the WSJ and All Things D, Ed Baig from USA Today and David Pogue from the NYTimes.

The first iPhone 3G reviews have just hit, from Walt Mossberg of the WSJ and All Things D, Ed Baig from USA Today and David Pogue from the NYTimes. No one goes deep into the app store but here’s what they think:

Walt Mossberg of the WSJ has been testing it “for a couple of weeks” and sees that surfing on the faster 3G is between three and five times the speed of the original iPhone. However, Moss found that browsing on the 3G network drained his battery much faster than browsing on the original. Externally, he says the speaker was “much louder” (YES!) for both music and speakerphone, but otherwise pretty much the same as the original. One bug/feature he ran into was that you can only sync your calendar and contacts with either Exchange or your personal accounts, not both.
